After visiting the RHS Malvern spring festival show in May, I purchased some gorgeous succulents with a view to filling a pot with them. Sempervivum also known as houseleeks are fleshy succulent plants that retain water especially in arid soil conditions.
This hot hot hot summer has been the perfect climate for them and with added water they have flourished and one has even flowered, reminding me of the desert blooms that occur when there has been unusually high rainfall in arid conditions.
I just love the way the plants send out little babies and fill all available space and I'm looking forward to even more crowding together in the pot.
They are definitely my new favourite in the garden at the moment.
