My textile pieces are very diverse and organic. I love working with texture and colour, combining stitch with other mediums. Sometimes I hand embellish needle felting, or just create a piece using free machine embroidery. I might stitch over a monoprint or directly onto paper.

Needle felting and hand embroidery
I love needle felting and embroidery and this piece is called "Beady Pool". It was inspired by the place of the same name on the beautiful island of St Agnes where earthenware beads were washed up from a wrecked Dutch cargo ship in the 17th Century. It is a needle felted piece which means that I have embellished layers of wool fibre, fabric, yarn and ribbon with many barbed needles to make a dense textured fabric. I then hand embroidered it to add more texture and detail.
